I studied the degree of Tourism in the public University of Alicante (UA), 12 years ago. Currently I´m working as a civil servant in a job not related with tourism at all, but I don´t complain about my work.

Nonetheless, I´ve always wanted to study something related to the economy and two years ago I decided to start studying business adminstration at UOC (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya).

UOC is a semipublic spanish University, which receives funds from the regional Government of Catalonia, which makes it quite cheaper than other private online universities.

You have two ways of preparing each subject. The first and the easier one consists of doing a bunch of exercises or PECs and then doing a short type of exam. If you don´t decide to go through this method you always have the possibility of going directly do the exam.

In my case I always preferred to spend more time every afternoon doing those exercises that guaranteed passing the subject.

By the way! you have always the chance to select the place of your exams all over Spain and abroad at certain Universities where there are agreements with UOC.

In addition, I´ll tell you that you have always the possibility of studying in spanish or catalan.

I learned and enjoyed much more than in a public University, but the problem that I saw is that all the time you are saving from going to classes, you have to spend everyday at home, and believe me that it takes a lot of time in order to finish it in four, five years.

This is a type of University that needs someone with all the afternoon to spend on it, and a generous budget to afford the 2700 € average per year (of course depending on the degree). So is much expensive than a public university wich costs around 1000 to 1500 € per year, and also more expensive than UNED, which is the other spanish option to study with a distance learning method.

In conclusion, if you can afford the costs of UOC, you want to enjoy the process of learning and have enough time to dedicate to your studies, this University can be a great option for your expectations.
